Policy FAQs

  • If you need to cancel or reschedule, we ask that you give us at least 24 hours. Same day appointment cancellations or reschedules can be subject to 50% of the scheduled service price. No call, no show appointments are subject to 100% of the scheduled service price.

Appointments rescheduled more than 3 times in a row will automatically be cancelled and you will need to call to book your future appointments.

There is no fee for rescheduling due to the onset of labor or a true emergency.

  • If you are late, and this prevents the session from starting at the designated time this will unfortunately cut into your treatment timeframe. Your appointment is reserved for you, and only you. If we can accommodate a few minutes here and there, we will do the best we can to give you the full length of your scheduled massage. However, so that the next guest will not be delayed, we cannot cut into someone else’s time by extending yours.

For any mobile massage appointments, the massage therapist will arrive 5-10 minutes before the appointment time to set up the table, etc. This allows you time for a pre-consulation with your therapist, and allows the session to start on time in order to give the full length of session.

If the therapist is late, your full time will be given.

  • If this is your first time visiting with us we do require a 50% deposit of the scheduled service in order to hold your appointment. This deposit will go towards the total of your service.

We will send you an emailed invoice and it must be taken care of 24 hours before your appointment, or you forfeit your appointment time and the scheduled service will be cancelled.

If you cancel or reschedule 24 hours before your appointment you will receive a full refund. Same day cancellations, reschedules or No Call/No Shows will forfeit this deposit.

  • Though our massage practice is not a mobile service, we do offer a Postpartum Massage Day that allows early postpartum mothers (0-3 months postpartum) to receive massage at home.

To ensure our travel time between appointments stay within a reasonable timeframe, we do not travel more than 20 miles from our office.

There is a $10 travel fee for any appointments over 15 miles from our home location, 2101 West Avenue, San Antonio TX 78201.

  • No, gratuity is not included, it is also not required, but always appreciated.

  • Massage Therapy is for relaxation and therapeutic purposes only and there is absolutely no sexual component to massage whatsoever. Any insinuation, joke, gesture, conversation, or request otherwise will result in immediate termination of your massage session and full payment of the scheduled session.

General FAQs

  • No, we are happy to support your partner, family, and friends, regardless of gender.

  • You are welcome to undress to your own level of comfort. Many clients undress fully, while others may leave their undergarments on.

We will always use draping in our session, and we only work on the part of the body that is uncovered -- your back, one arm or one leg, for instance. The rest of the body is covered with our linens.

Regardless of what you choose, you will be given privacy and time to disrobe and get onto the table.

  • Our office is child friendly and they are welcome to join you in your session.

For infants we have a bouncer available for use so they can be near you in session. Additionally they can join you on the massage table for nursing and bonding purposes.

For toddlers and small children we ask that they stay with you in the treatment area. We have toys they can play with or you can bring your own.

Children 10 and older are welcome to stay in the sitting area.

  • Unfortunately at this time we do not, however we can accommodate sessions one right after the other. We allow 5 minutes in-between each session to change over the table and perform any pre-consultations before the second session begins. This allows the second person to get their full treatment time. If you are interested in back to back sessions, please reach out as our booking software automatically puts time in-between each session.

  • All you need is a space large enough for a massage table and enough room for the therapist to move around (at least and 8' x 8' space). The therapist will also need a place to wash their hands before and after the session.

Prenatal Massage FAQs

  • Yes, it is safe to receive massage in your first trimester. There is no evidence that massage causes or increases the likelihood of miscarriage. In fact massage is a huge benefit to a woman in their first trimester, as it can help balance hormones, stress, aches and pains before it compounds later in pregnancy.

For more information on prenatal massage, we encourage you to visit our Resources page.

  • Yes you can! Deep tissue is safe as long as you are working with a qualified and trained massage therapist who has a full understanding of the pregnant anatomy. There may be certain areas where deeper pressure is contraindicated, such as the legs and abdomen, but your therapist can speak with you about those specific areas in your session.

For more information on prenatal massage, we encourage you to visit our Resources page.

  • Absolutely yes. There are specific acupressure points in the ankle and feet that shouldn’t be held with deep, sustained pressure, but a massage therapist with expert training in prenatal massage will know how to navigate those specific areas safely.

For more information on prenatal massage, we encourage you to visit our Resources page.

  • In our massage practice, prenatal massage can be performed a few different ways, depending on the therapist and where you are in your pregnancy.

For those early in their pregnancy, massage positioning is similar to that of a regular session, lying either face down or face up.

As you move farther along, we can provide various bolstering or supports that allow you to receive massage in the side-lying position, face down and/or semi-reclined. Positioning is something that will be discussed with your therapist in your pre-consultation, to see what will be the best and safe fit for you.

  • Every pregnancy is different and every person has different needs, so please use this as a guideline only.

Additionally, if you feel massage is something that can support you in your labor, and we can accommodate any travel in our schedule for that day, we are happy to provide labor massage for you.

  • Depending on the age, comfort level and/or goal for the session, pediatric massage can look very different than one for an adult.

Massage can be performed sitting in a chair, on the floor or on the massage table. Especially with younger children, we use a variety of techniques ranging from stories, toys and movement to help engage your child while they receive their massage.

Our main goal when introducing touch therapy to a child is to create a comfortable, relaxed and compassionate space for your little one.

For new pediatric clients, we will take some time to talk in age appropriate language, about what massage is and what it is used for.

During our initial visit we take time to explain the massage process to each child. They will have an opportunity to practice saying “yes”, “no”, pressure preferences and other phrases to empower them during their massage session.

We will also end with a few age appropriate self care tips your child can practice in-between sessions.

For clients age 2-12, parents must be present in the treatment area. Clients age 13-17, can be in the treatment area by themselves, but the parent or guardian must remain in our office.

For more information on pediatric massage, we encourage you to visit our Resources page.

  • For children new to massage we recommend they receive massage on a weekly or bi-weekly basis, for the first three sessions. This will allow your child time to acclimate and get comfortable with the process.

This is why we are happy to provide our Nurtured Child massage packages.

Additionally, once a month we offer a Pediatric Massage Day, in order to ensure our pediatric clients have dedicated time for them on our schedule. For more information on this, please check out our Community page.

  • This is OK! Permission is key in pediatric massage. We will always ask permission to massage every time we lay hands on a child.

If your child decides they no longer want to be worked on we will respect that boundary and find an alternative way to finish the session. This can include movement therapy, breath work or even instructing the parent or guardian in massage, and more.

  • Session times for pediatric massage range from 30 minutes, 45 minutes and 60 minute sessions. If this is a child’s first time, if their attention span is shorter, are younger or if they are working through sensory struggles, a shorter time may be best to start off with. Of course every child is different. If you are unsure what to choose, feel free to reach out with your specific concerns and we can help you select the option that may be best for you and your child.
